Freezing Oranges, Batman!

So, it's pretty funny to me what makes the headlines in Central Florida. Each state has their catastrophic weather event - floods, mudslides, earthquakes, tornados, blizzards, etc.

Last night I turned on the late night local news (a rare event in my household) and was amazed at what first appeared to be a hurricane report. It was actually coverage of the overnight FREEZE alerts for our usually warm & sunny state. I actually heard a newscaster say something to the effect of ,'it's time to hunker down central florida - we could hit record lows tonight - stay inside if you can, the following shelters are also open...' (b-roll playing in the background with empty streets - Floridians are afraid to go out in the cold!)

I thought it was nuts being that I grew up in the NorthEast, where we hit temperatues below 32 degrees daily for at least 3 months out of the year.

We were also nervous about potentially freezing some of our lucrative crops because a number of them are already producing fruit - primarily oranges.

That made me think of a childhood favorite - ORANGE JULIUS. Are those still around?
